Astrid Menick (1960) is self-educated as visual artist and teacher. She often works spontaneous and by intuition. At first, her work consisted of sketches and drawings in pencil, charcoal or Indian ink. In her thirties, she started painting in watercolor and with acrylics, oil paint and other media. Her recent work is in sumi-e, a Japanese one brush stroke painting technique with ink on rice paper.
In addition to creating her own work, she helps others to discover and develop their creativity through painting lessons and workshops. She lives and works in Groningen.
